Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are so proud and excited to share that our girls’ basketball team will be competing in the AllA State Tournament next week. To allow our students, staff, and families the opportunity to support our team, we will have no school on Wednesday, January 21st and Thursday 22nd. If our girls advance on Wednesday, we will have no school on Friday, January 23rd . The girls play on Wednesday at 5:00pm Central Time (6:00 pm Eastern Time) at Owensboro Sportscenter and if we win, we will play Friday at 11:30 am Central Time (12:30 pm Eastern Time). We encourage everyone to join us in supporting our student athletes as they represent our school and community at the state level. Thank you for your continued support, and please contact us if you have any questions. Reminder: There is no school Monday. It is Martin Luther King Day.

Sincerely,

Sondra Combs

NTI Updated Schedule!

This is not, I repeat, not a post to say that there is NTI tomorrow or any time soon. You will still need to pay attention to social media and news outlets for NTI announcements. This post is to inform HMS students and parents about an update to our NTI schedule. Below is our NTI schedule moving forward:

(10:00 - 11:45) Google meet with classroom teachers.
(11:45 - 12:15) Lunch
(12:15 - 2:00) Google meet with classroom teachers.

Teachers will still post the link for Google Meets in Google Classroom, they will still post work to Google Classroom, and those that send packets home will continue to do so, but nothing really changes except that we are starting an hour later. Thank you for helping us make this small transition.

"Christmas Comes to HMS" Contributing Writer: Silas Roll - HMS Student Leadership Team Member Gingerbread castles, an inflatable Nutcracker, and Area Fifty-One! Now, that's Christmas themed, and this is just the main floor of Hazard Middle School. The teachers and staff of Hazard Middle School have worked really hard to make the school look like a Christmas Winter Wonderland this holiday season. On the top floor, students and teachers alike have decorated the hallways as well, in a "Classic Christmas" theme, with lockers covered with wrapping paper, lights strung overhead, and each door decorated to represent a classic Christmas movie. This has made the students of HMS feel great, being able to help decorate the school and take part in bringing Christmas to life in the halls of HMS. Students have been overjoyed to see the school filled with decorations like trees, gingerbread men, and an abundance of wrapping paper.

The Hazard Middle School FCA would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Josh and Taran Holland for their leadership and support in restarting our FCA Huddle. We would also like to thank the Hazard High School FCA students who visited and shared their stories throughout the semester. Additionally, we are grateful to SEKY FCA and ARH for sponsoring the FCA shirts and cups for our faculty sponsors, Mr. Combs and Mr. Miller, and to Summit Student Ministries for providing donuts this morning and "Jesus Won" bracelets for all of our FCA students. On behalf of the Hazard Middle School FCA, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
