Students explored Appalachian canning traditions and the science behind the canning process. They then put their learning into practice by canning pickles using cucumbers grown in our school garden -- planted by last years 5th graders!

Congratulations to Mrs. Bowling's 5th grade class for winning the TOP DAWG ATTENDANCE AWARD for the very first week of school! They achieved 98% attendance. Way to go!!

What an AWESOME start to HMS FCA! 🙌 This morning, almost 90 students voluntarily showed up before class even started to spend time together, encourage one another, and grow in their faith. That’s something worth celebrating! A special thank you to Luke Lindon, who shared about his experience attending FCA Leadership Camp this summer and encouraged his classmates to live out their faith right where God has placed them. HMS had 3 students attend Leadership Camp over the summer. Luke Lindon, Malachi Johnson and Jed Holland We are proud of these students for their commitment and leadership with HMS FCA. 📍 Beginning next Friday, HMS FCA will meet weekly in the gym. ⏰ Fridays at 7:40 AM No matter who you are or where you are in your faith, you’re invited! Come hang out, bring a friend, and start your Friday with some encouragement. FCA is a student lead group. Participation is voluntary and occurs outside of instructional time.

Welcome to Hazard Middle School, Fifth Graders!💙 Our newest HMS students were welcomed to the middle school with some much-needed supplies and helpful information to get them off to a great start! Students learned tips for staying organized, managing their responsibilities, and being successful in middle school. Each student also received a supply bag filled with essentials to help them feel prepared and confident as they begin this exciting new chapter. Shoutout to PRI for supporting and encouraging our students! We're so glad you're here, fifth graders! We can't wait to see you learn, grow, and excel! 📚⭐️

It’s a place where students can connect with friends, encourage one another, grow in their faith, and learn what it means to live out their faith at school and in everyday life. 🏀🏈⚽️ You don’t have to be an athlete to be part of FCA! Students examined a collection of clues, separated facts from inferences, and used evidence to support their conclusions. History isn’t just about knowing what happened. It’s about figuring out how we know. 🕵️📜

8th Grade is starting the school year off STRONG! 💪🏼🧪 On just the second day of school, Ms. Bryant’s 8th grade scientists were already putting their communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to the test! 🧠 With only 6 cups, 4 pieces of string, and a rubber band, students had to work together to complete challenges without touching the cups with their hands! A little teamwork, a little creativity, and a LOT of laughs made for a pretty great start to the school year! 💙💛
